Sopwell House raise over £2,000 for Rennie Grove

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is extremely grateful to Sopwell House hotel in St Albans, which has raised over £2,000 for the charity during 2014.

The year kicked off with the hotel's staff awards dinner in January 2014, from which a raffle raised £1,000.

Six members of staff ran the Herts 10K on 12 October, recording some great times (including 46, 48 and 51 minutes), and raising an extremely impressive amount in sponsorship: £869.65.

Finally, £180 was raised from a donation per ticket sold for their annual Halloween, Bonfire and Fireworks Extravaganza which was held on 31 October and saw record attendance of over 250 people.

Sopwell House will also host the (now sold-out) Rennie Grove Question of Sport Dinner in February of this year, and staff are already planning further fundraising events in 2015. Colin Ivey, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Rennie Grove, thanked all the staff at Sopwell House:

"We’re extremely grateful to the staff at Sopwell House for all their hard work in 2014," he said. "And particular congratulations to the six members of staff who completed the Herts 10K in some very impressive times! Thank you so much for all your efforts last year – the money raised makes a huge difference to our patients and their families. We look forward to working with Sopwell House in 2015 and beyond."
