High Sheriff visits Grove House
Staff at Grove House were delighted to welcome The High Sherriff of Hertfordshire, Mr Fergus McMullen, when he visited on Wednesday 25 February.
He said: "I was delighted to be able to visit Grove House and spend time talking to staff and some of the patients in the Day Hospice. The visit really brought it home to me how different the reality of hospice care is from the commonly held perception that it is just about supporting people in their final weeks.
"Grove House is a place that is full of life and interesting people and the wonderful work that the staff and many volunteers do to care for their patients and help them live life to the full is very impressive. I heard some exciting plans for the future which will help make this care available to even more patients which is terribly important given our ageing population and that many people now live for much longer with life-limiting illnesses. I am looking forward to returning for another visit in the Summer."
Mr McMullen was shown around Grove House by the charity’s Chief Executive Jenny Provin
