Volunteer gardeners sought to help at Grove House

Grove House imageGrove House is looking for green-fingered volunteers to help in the garden at the day hospice.

The charity is keen to find volunteers who can give half a day of their time once a fortnight until November.

Volunteer Gardeners work in teams to maintain Grove House Gardens, part of the facilities available to patients and carers. The gardens are managed by a Volunteer Coordinator, who prioritises tasks for the gardeners.

Jane Carruthers, Volunteer Services Manager at Rennie Grove, said: “Depending on what volunteers are able and happy to do, tasks can include weeding, planting, mowing the lawn, hedge trimming or cleaning paved areas. Gardeners can also be involved in occasional projects to redesign and replant areas of the garden.

“Ideally volunteers will be fit and able to use the gardening tools available and have sufficient gardening knowledge to identify weeds from plants!”
