Our Day Hospice at Grove House is a positive and active place offering practical care and social support for patients diagnosed with cancer or other life-limiting illness. All patients in Day Hospice are continually monitored and assessed by specialist nurses who offer symptom management and emotional support. You can also get support from other patients and volunteers in a group setting.
If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer or another life-limiting illness and are worried about coping and keeping your symptoms under control, then our Day Hospice can help.
Patients attend Day Hospice for one day a week and places are initially allocated for three months. If you are in remission from your illness, have no symptoms related to it or no longer need Day Hospice support, you may be discharged. You can always be re-referred at a later stage if need be.
Should you remain at the Day Hospice, your care will be reviewed every three months.
Who can come?
To qualify for our hospice care, you need to be registered with a GP surgery within our catchment area and have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.
How do I get referred?
Any Health Care Professional involved in your care including your GP can refer you to the Day Hospice. However if you are already known to Rennie Grove, you can be referred by a member of staff. Alternatively you can refer yourself by either phoning 01727 731013 or by calling into our Drop-in Session on a Tuesday morning between 9am and 1pm when our nurses will be able to advise you and assess you for a place at Day Hospice.
What will happen when I get there?
During your time at Day Hospice you will have the opportunity to receive care tailored to your needs and to take part in a number of different activities.
Each week one of the Day Hospice nurses will meet with you and you will have the opportunity – in a calm and sensitive setting – to voice any concerns or worries you may have.
