Our Ambassadors

Our Ambassadors raise public awareness of our work by speaking to media, groups, companies, schools and other organisations, and represent the charity throughout the community in which our nurses operate. They are very happy to attend meetings, or present speeches to groups of any size - whether it's a local organisation such as WI, Lions or Rotary Club, Round Table or U3A, employees at a company, a school, or just a group of friends.

Doreen Beattie

Doreen Beattie

Doreen has lived in St Albans for over 20 years and has always supported Grove House; ever since her retirement from a managerial role in the pharmaceutical industry in 2009, she has been proud to be involved in various volunteer roles within Rennie Grove. Her ambassador role gives her the opportunity to meet local community groups to thank them for their fundraising activities - and sometimes to participate in them herself! She also enjoys talking informally about all the services which Rennie Grove provides to the local community, and loves answering questions from the audience. Doreen’s other interests include literature, music, sport, and good food and wine.

Jill Wallis

Jill WallisJill first encountered Rennie Grove when they cared for her husband Chris during his final months, and has been keen ever since to support the charity. She did a sponsored parachute jump, donated the profits from a prize winning anthology of poetry written about the experience of bereavement, is part of the organising committee for the Rhyme and Reason annual book of poems and stories by local writers, and volunteers for Rennie Grove as a bereavement visitor, as well as her role as an Ambassador.

Christine and Richard Nisbet

Christine & Richard Nisbet

Christine and Richard have been involved with Rennie Grove since October 1985. For over 25 years they were a big part of the High Wycombe and Amersham fundraising team, organising some huge events and singing the praises of the charity whenever and wherever possible. They have been speaking about the charity to local groups and even addressing a regional conference for Rotary in Bournemouth, for many years. Their aim is to raise the profile and where possible help with fundraising as and when they can.
