RAF Halton Triathlon and Duathlon - Sunday 31 July 2016

Reaching your Fundraising Target

Your sponsorship money is crucial to Rennie Grove Hospice Care and its services so that we can keep helping all the local families that need us. Our NHS funding is less than half the average given to UK hospices and so we rely on public support. Read more about the way we are funded.

There are two main ways that you can raise sponsorship:

1. Set up an online JustGiving page - it's fast, it's easy and you don't have to handle money yourself.

Top tips for making the most of your page:

  • Personalise your page by including a photo of yourself and a short bio explaining why you've decided to take part in the RAF Halton Sprint Triathlon.
  • Ask your closest friends and family to sponsor you first as an empty page may put some people off. Also, by targeting your most generous supporters first it sets a standard for others to follow.
  • Send out an email to all of your contacts with information and a link to your page.
  • Post the link on social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Include the link in your email signature at work.
  • If appropriate, ask your employer if you can send round the link to your colleagues and even to external work contacts.
  • Ensure sponsors read the gift aid statement and tick the box if they are eligible to do so.

2. Download a sponsorship form

Top Tips to help you get started with your fundraising:

  • Ask your family members to pledge money first on your sponsorship form, if they are generous this might set a standard for people to follow!
  • Ensure sponsors read the gift aid statement and tick the box if they are eligible to do so.
  • Encourage your employer or any local companies you have links with to sponsor you. It's also a good idea to ask your employer if they have a match giving scheme you could use.
  • Start raising sponsorship money early, take your sponsorship form everywhere you go! Extra forms are available to download if needed.
  • Keep people who have sponsored you informed of your progress and how much you have raised.
  • Try and collect your money straight away in order to save time after the event.
  • You don’t have to raise your sponsorship through the traditional methods you could hold a mini-event to raise funds too. For example raffles, quiz nights, cake sales, poker nights, coffee mornings, car boot sales, ebay sales and car washes are among the endless activities you could engage in to raise sponsorship. People are often much happier to give you money if they are receiving something in return.

When you have collected your sponsorship money please send a cheque made out to ‘Rennie Grove Hospice Care’ to our Tring office address.

The fundraising team are also happy to help you raise your sponsorship and can provide you with any sponsorship materials you need. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to call us on 01442 820740 or email us at haltontriathlon@renniegrove.org.
