Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s series of Light up a Life services will be open again in the Autumn. You will then be able to dedicate a light in memory of a loved one and make a donation of your choice. The light that you sponsor will be one of the lights that shines on Christmas trees at our services in November and December..
Offering people a safe and supportive environment in which to reflect and remember, Light Up a Life is a national initiative designed to enable people to remember loved ones who are no longer with us and support hospice care for future generations.
Rennie Grove’s Hospice at Home nurses attend some of the services, including Judith Moore, who manages the charity’s Hospice at Home nurses in Herts and the charity’s overnight team. At a recent Light up a Life service, she read a poem on the theme of remembrance called ‘Then & Now’ written by Rennie Grove Ambassador, Jill Wallis, which appeared in Fundraising Group Rhyme & Reason’s desk calendar this year.
Judith said: “The poem captures the idea behind Light up a Life perfectly - providing a place in which to share memories and reflect on times past in an environment of love and support.”
Each service – whether it’s outside or in a local church - offers a peaceful place for people to take time to reflect at their own pace and in their own way in a beautiful atmosphere. After carols and readings, the lights on the Christmas tree will be switched on. You can choose to dedicate a light to a loved one, whether or not you plan to attend a service. Visit www.renniegrove.org/lual for details of how to do this or call 01442 890222. You will receive a personalised dedication card bearing the name of the person to whom the light is dedicated and your donation will help to secure the future of hospice care in our local community.
At each service, candles will be available for a suggested donation of £1 and you will be able to pick up a special sparkling pin badge in silver or purple for a suggested donation of £2. Everyone is welcome at our Light up a Life services, not just friends and relatives of Rennie Grove patients.
Please note that we have moved our Annual Remembrance Services to June 2016. There will be three services in different locations across Herts and Bucks. Keep an eye on our website and enews for details.
