As the time for pledging your New Year’s resolutions approaches, Rennie Grove Hospice Care is on hand to help you stay motivated when the sofa beckons on those dark winter nights.
If your goal for 2016 is to get fit and maintain a healthier lifestyle through regular exercise, why not sign up to a sponsored sporting event with Rennie Grove to keep you focused on your goals? You could take on 10K, 35 miles or even 75 miles in our Chilterns Cycle Challenge on Sunday 20 March; try a triathlon on Sunday 1 May with our sprint option, mini-Olympic distance or brand new duathlon (if swimming isn’t your thing!); or tackle challenging obstacles in our marvellous Muddy Mucker event at a purpose-built course in Chiswell Green on Sunday 10 April.
Alternatively, if 2016 is the year you want to take on that personal challenge, why not sign up for our sponsored skydive in June and free-fall from 10,000 feet at 120mph? Or if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground – albeit at 4,000 metres above sea level - join our Moroccan 3 Peaks Challenge in June (sign up by 18 January).
If skydives and cycle rides are not your cup of tea – but you have ear-marked 2016 as the time to make a difference, there are plenty of ways you can get involved with Rennie Grove to help local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness.
You could join our team of 1,500 volunteers: whether you have several days a week to spare or simply the odd Sunday morning now and then – we have roles that can work around your commitments.
If your resolution is around de-cluttering your home, then Rennie Grove’s 24 charity shops are perfectly placed to make the most of your ‘pre-loved’ goods! Donate good quality clothes, books, CDs, ornaments or small pieces of furniture to your local Rennie Grove shop – and remember to Gift Aid your donation if possible to make it worth 25% more.
And finally, if you’d like to make a difference but don’t have time to undertake any of the above, why not become a ‘Friend of Rennie Grove’? Friends give a regular donation – monthly, quarterly or annually – of an amount of their choice. This commitment enables the charity to plan with confidence, caring for the families that need the service now but also planning to meet future demand. It’s a quick, secure and safe way of pledging your support and will help to safeguard the future of hospice care in your community.
