Around 150 guests gathered at The Noke Hotel in St Albans on Friday 29 January to enjoy traditional Burns Night fare whilst raising almost £6,000 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
The charity’s Community Fundraising Manager, Nicola MacKinnon, said: “It was a fantastic night and we’re so grateful to the organiser, Jenny Lee, and all our guests. Between them they made our first-ever Burns Night in Hertfordshire a resounding success.”
Thanks also to The Noke; to chef Stuart Cowan; to Master of Ceremonies, Charlie Stewart; piper, Archie McDonald; ceilidh band ‘Knitters Jig’ and the Scots actors who entertained guests with their rendition of Robert Burns’ poems.
Nicola added: “£6,000 will fund 300 hours of specialist care in patients’ home or at Grove House. Jenny’s hard work and our guests’ generosity will make a huge difference to local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.”
