Daring members of Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s fundraising team, along with other adrenalin-fuelled supporters of the charity, had a sneak preview of the Muddy Mucker© course in preparation for the event in April.
The Muddy Mucker©, which will take place at a professional assault course venue in Chiswell Green, is set to be Rennie Grove’s toughest fundraiser yet. There will be around 30 obstacles across a 5 mile course – including a mud crawl, rope tunnel and tyre wall – to push your strength and stamina to the limit.
Kirsten Whitehouse, who lives in Fleetville, took part in the trial run with her running buddy Mark Hayward after supporting the charity in previous events. “We normally travel up to 3 hours to get to obstacle course races, so to have such a great event for a brilliant local charity right on the doorstep is fantastic,” says Kirsten. “Having run the course, I can confirm it's the perfect mix of fun and challenging obstacles, meaning that everyone will come away feeling happy, accomplished and looking pretty muddy! I can't wait!”
Kirsten will be joining hundreds of others, including The Herts Advertiser’s Matt Adams, on Sunday April 10 to take on the full challenge. Team entries are widely encouraged and the charity is calling on local businesses to get behind the event for some friendly competition.
The Muddy Mucker© is open to participants aged 16 and over and two entry fee options are available – both with and without a sponsorship pledge. It’s hoped that the event will raise over £30,000 – enough to fund a specialist nurse for a year.
