Rennie Grove Hospice Care is holding a half-term party in its Farnham Common charity shop on Wednesday 1 June. Between 10:30am and 2:30pm, customers can meet charity mascot Rennie Bear and take part in a tombola for the chance to win prizes ranging from children’s toys to wine, whisky and beauty products.
Manager Lyn Semmens explains: “The shop is open for business as usual but we thought we’d take the opportunity during half-term to raise our profile in the local community. We’d love to meet more local people and have the chance for a chat so do pop in and see us.”
Rennie Grove’s shop is located on the Beaconsfield Road (Shop 4 Prospect House), not far from Sainsburys and Tesco, and stocks a range of children’s toys, women’s and men’s wear, books, ornaments and accessories. It’s part of the charity’s chain of 24 shops across Bucks and Herts, which between them are responsible for contributing more than £2 million towards the organisation’s 24/7 responsive Hospice at Home care and other services for patients and families affected by life-limiting illness.
Lyn adds: “When we first opened the shop back in October 2015, there was scaffolding around the front so we didn’t host an official launch party at the time. This is our welcome reception and re-launch of our lovely store so do join us if you can.”
Lyn and her team welcome donations of good quality items to sell and are seeking volunteers to join them in the shop. Contact the shop direct on 01753 646854 or get in touch with the charity’s Volunteer Services Team on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01442 890222 if you’d like to join the team, or just pop in Mondays to Saturdays between 9am and 5pm.
