A group of high profile local individuals joined together at Wycombe Wanderers Football Club on Tuesday 5 July to launch a local charity’s brand new sports-themed corporate hospitality event. Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s inaugural Buckinghamshire Question of Sport Charity Dinner will take place at Wycombe Wanderers FC on Thursday 3 November – and its influential event committee posed for photos with sports props to promote it.
The committee comprises business leaders with a broad range of experience: Ben Brocklesby (Origin Global – headline sponsors of the event), Chris Bantock (BeSeen Marketing), Damian Irvine (Wycombe Wanderers), Jackie Ray (Blaser Mills Solicitors), Micky Calcott (The Window Film Company), Cllr Mimi Harker OBE, Richard Berry (Sytner BMW), and Tony Colbourne (Luker Rowe). Planning for the event is gaining momentum under the expert guidance of the Committee. They are focussed on creating an exciting evening of corporate hospitality which they hope will become a successful annual fundraiser for Rennie Grove.
Jo Turner, Head of Fundraising for Rennie Grove in Bucks, said: “We are thrilled to have such prominent people representing some really prestigious companies on the event committee. Their contacts alone are proving invaluable in terms of ticket sales and securing high value raffle prizes and money-can’t-buy experiences for our charity auctions on the night.”
Hosted by Sky Sports & Premier league reporter Alan Parry, the evening will include a cocktail reception, three-course dinner with wine and a fully interactive sports quiz followed by a silent auction, main auction and grand prize raffle. The Question of Sport model has been successful for Rennie Grove in Herts and the charity is now working to replicate its success in Bucks where an increase in fundraising is now urgently needed.
Jo added: “There is growing demand for our 24/7 responsive service in patients’ homes and new events like this will be crucial in our efforts to meet that need.”
Rennie Grove and the Committee are aiming to raise enough to fund an additional Hospice at Home Nurse for a year as part of the charity’s plans to meet ever-increasing demand for its unique service for patients and families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness.
