Sunday 31 July marks the return of the RAF Halton Triathlon and Duathlon for Rennie Grove Hospice Care. Relaunching the event with an additional Duathlon option has opened up the competition to those who prefer not to swim. Participants can choose to compete in a Mini Olympic consisting of a 600m swim, 34.5km cycle and 5km run, a Super Sprint involving a 300m swim, 23km cycle and 5km run, or a Duathlon featuring a 5km run, 23km cycle and another 5km run. Registration for the event will remain open until midday on Friday 29 July.
Gillian Barnett, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Rennie Grove said: “We can appreciate that it can take a while to train up for races such as these, but we still welcome and encourage any latecomers to sign up and take part. All who enter will be faced with the physical challenge that is the Triathlon or Duathlon and we will be there supporting them all the way on the day.”
Rennie Grove Hospice Care has several companies supporting this event including Ashmei, a local sportswear provider based in Aldbury. Robert Gaddie, a spokesperson for Ashmei says: “We are delighted to be involved with Rennie Grove and this year’s RAF Halton event. This year we have donated prizes for the fastest female and male in each race category, including a £30 gift voucher to be used online or instore and a pair of socks.”
Ashmei is a local, UK business and a true run, ride and tri brand. They are introducing a huge range of new products in August 2016 as well as restocking existing favourites. Robert continues: “We welcome anyone to drop into the office or go online to view the current range available and see why we are quickly becoming the brand of choice for so many! On behalf of everyone here at Ashmei, I would like to wish everyone good luck for a safe race.”
With just over three weeks to go until the event takes place, Rennie Grove is giving a final push to anyone who wants to sign up and take part. After all, three weeks of training is better than none! Go to www.renniegrove.org/rafhaltontri to sign up today.
