Jingle all the way

Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s festive fundraiser The Jingle Bell Jog and Reindeer RunJingle Bell Jog Winner - Paul Guy returns to St Albans on Sunday December 4.

This cracker of an event is open to young families and seasoned runners alike.  Over 10s and more experienced runners may choose to take on the 5k Jingle Bell Jog, complete with full Santa suit and beard while the fabulously fun 1.5k Reindeer Run, topped off with reindeer antlers and a flashing red nose is a stable favourite for all ages.

Whilst runners make their way to the start line, spectators can keep warm with a boogie to some well-known Christmas tunes, thanks to Heart Radio who will be keeping the motivation and atmosphere going on the day.

Waterend Barn, St Peter’s Street will be the starting point for both festive-themed challenges where Everyone Active will lead antler- and Santa suit-clad participants through warm ups to keep the frostbite at bay before embarking on their races.  All participants will be given a medal on completing their fun run, kindly sponsored by Collinson Hall Estate Agents.

Gillian Barnett, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said, “The Jingle Bell Jog and Reindeer Run offer something for everyone and the event is the perfect excuse for a fun day out with the whole family. The festive outfits give the event a more exciting feel than any other race you might take part in throughout the year. It really captures the Christmas spirit and brings families together during the festive period and that’s especially fitting because the money raised helps keep local patients at home with their families throughout what might be their last Christmas together.”

Rennie Grove provides care and support to local patients with cancer and other life-limiting illness and their families. Through a range of day services at Grove House, a 24/7 responsive hospice at home service and support services for carers and family members, the charity makes it possible for patients to choose to stay at home surrounded by their families and friends, something that is especially important at Christmas.  84% of the money needed to run the service every year is generously donated by the local community by supporting events like this which is why raising sponsorship is so vital to the charity.
