A hospice charity is asking local choirs and singing groups to help with its festive fundraising. Rennie Grove Hospice Care has secured slots at local and London railway stations in the run up to Christmas and is seeking singers and bands to perform.
Director of Fundraising & Marketing at Rennie Grove, Gillian Barnett, said: “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity again, thanks to Chiltern Rail and Network Rail. The atmosphere at the stations was brilliant last year, with commuters pausing to enjoy the festive spirit and donating money to the Rennie Grove volunteers who accompanied the choirs. The initiative raised more than £8,000 in 2015 and this year we have been given permission to sing and fundraise in more stations so we’re hopeful it will raise vital funds and awareness for us in the run up to Christmas.”
As well as stations in the charity’s patch on routes into London - including Aylesbury, Wendover and Princes Risborough - Marylebone and Paddington stations will play host to the Christmas choirs raising funds for Rennie Grove between 1pm and 8pm on Thursday 15 and Tuesday 20 December. If you belong to a choir, singing group or band and would like to get involved – or if you could spare some time to hold a bucket to receive commuters’ donations - please contact the Fundraising Team on 01442 890222.
