King of Herts

Long-standing Rennie Grove supporter Sue Hobley enjoyed a memorable experienceKings of Herts recently when she accepted a donation to the charity of £2,300 - from her husband Jim!

However, it didn't come out of the Hobley household budget. Jim presented it on behalf of the Kings of Herts male barbershop harmony chorus, of which he has been a member for over 25 years.  He paid tribute to months of hard work by concert organiser Peter Jouning.

The 35-strong chorus raised the money by hosting a variety concert earlier this month in front of an audience of 400 at the Harpenden Public Halls.

Thanking the singers, Sue reduced them to silence when she revealed that the charity needed to raise nearly £18,000 a day to pay for its 24/7 hospice at home care, range of day services at Grove House and extensive family support services.

A former Trustee and now head gardener on a voluntary basis at Grove House, Sue has just run her annual wreath-making workshops for Rennie Grove, which will have raised a further £1,000 for the charity.
