DANCING diva Debra Francis got into the groove when she took part in a three-hour dance-a-thon and raised £160 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
Decked out in hot pink shell suits, wigs, sparkly trainers and bum bags, Debra and friends Sue, Kathryn and Amanda strutted their stuff alongside hundreds of others in fancy dress at the Peter Kay Dance for Life event in Leeds.
Debra, who lives in North West Lancashire, said she wanted to raise funds for Rennie Grove “because they provided support and fantastic care” for her friend Maggie Connolly when she was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago.
The pals are keen followers of the charity dance events launched by comedy great Peter Kay, said Debra. “This year Maggie died a few weeks before the dance-a-thon so I thought we could raise a bit of money in her memory.”
She added that “Maggie was a lovely lady, one of the most positive people you could ever meet” and was sure she was “with us in spirit, busting some moves on the dance floor”.
