Rennie Grove Hospice Care is putting out a final call for superheroes and runners to join together on Sunday 9 July for its Hemel 10k and 1.5k Superhero Fun Run, taking place at Astley Cooper School.
In true superhero style, the 1.5k Fun Run features optional fancy dress. Get ready to shine up the Captain America shield and adjust the Wonder Woman crown as spectators marvel at the array of world-saving characters at the start line. This race costs just £5 and is open to all ages. All participants will receive a medal at the finish line. There is also a prize for the best dressed: a beginner’s climbing session for two children at XC Extreme Sports Centre.
For those who are up for the challenge, there is a chip-timed 10k race through the countryside surrounding Hemel. This is a stunning, off-road, multi-terrain route, perfect for seasoned runners and beginners alike. It costs £20 to enter and includes a t-shirt and a medal at the finish line.
Kate Grigg, Rennie Grove Head of Fundraising for Hertfordshire said: “It’s almost perfect running weather now it has cooled down a bit! I can’t wait to see what costumes the fun run participants are wearing. It’s always great to see the families co-ordinating their costumes and just enjoying the day. The 10k route is really lovely and it has some great views over the countryside - real hidden gems!”
Sportspace in Hemel have also donated a prize for the highest fundraiser of a year’s membership. Rennie Grove needs to raise around 85% of its £7.2 million annual running costs through events such as the Hemel 10k and 1.5k Superhero Fun Run. Just £25 could fund an hour of specialist nursing care in a patient's home, giving patients choice about how and where they receive care. You can set up a Just Giving page or download a sponsorship form once you have signed up.
Online registration for this exciting event is open until midday on Friday 7 July; however, on the day signups are more than welcome. Visit the event page to sign up today.
