There’s still time to help Rennie Grove Hospice Care recruit a new healthcare assistant by making a donation to its Spring Appeal.
Healthcare assistants support Rennie Grove’s hospice at home nurses by carrying out basic medical tests such as checking patients’ temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels. This frees up specialist nurses to respond immediately to patients with serious and complex care needs and means the charity as a whole can meet rising demand and reach more patients.
But that’s not all. Lynne Tucker who is a Rennie Grove healthcare assistant explains: “Healthcare assistants have a great opportunity to make a difference to the lives of local families who are affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness. One of the key aspects of our role is to be a good listener as this helps us gain a genuine insight into how our patients and their families are feeling day by day. By visiting regularly, providing personal care and a listening ear, we are in a unique position to offer support.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all those people who have already donated to our Spring Appeal. We have raised around half the funds we need to recruit another healthcare assistant to support our nursing team. It would be great if we could raise the £24,000 we need and donations of any size are very much appreciated by all here at Rennie Grove.”
