The 4th annual Spring Ball, organised by a dedicated team of Rennie Grove Hospice Care supporters, has raised an impressive amount money.
The precise amount raised at the officer’s mess themed glamorous event that took place at Ley Hill Memorial Hall on Saturday 17 March was £6,264 - a truly incredible achievement.
Along with a fantastic team of organisers and sponsors, Sarah and Dave Peterson mastermind the ball each year. Sarah said, “I starting fundraising for Rennie Grove for a couple of reasons: I had friends who had been cared for by the charity’s nurses and I also knew some of the Rennie Grove nurses quite well myself. So when I decided to run the London Marathon a few years back I was looking for a local charity to support and Rennie Grove fitted the bill. When other family members decided to run the Marathon the following year we all decided to raise funds for Rennie Grove because of the amazing and friendly support their fundraising team gives to people running on their behalf.
“We were looking for other ways to raise money for Rennie Grove and the idea of holding our first spring ball back in 2014 was the brainchild of our son’s then girlfriend, now fiancée, Jess Danby. Since then we have gone from strength to strength raising a grand total of around £25,000 over the years.
“Dave and I want to say a very big thank you to all the planning team and to the helpers on the night as well as to the sponsors and guests. This team effort made the evening such a success. We were hoping to raise as much as previous balls, in the order of £4000; then on the night it looked like it might be more like £5000. But after a final count up we have raised a fantastic £6,264.”
Gillian Barnet, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Rennie Grove Hospice Care said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who brought tickets to the ball, to those who donated prizes for the auction and raffle and also to everyone who so generously gave their time and made the ball such a resounding success.
“All our services are provided at no cost to our patients or families but in order to carry on providing the same high quality services for all who need our care, we rely on support like this from our local community to raise in excess of £18,000 every day.”
