There’s just a few weeks left to book your place on Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s brand new fundraising event, The Farm Run.
Taking place at Hammonds End Farm in Harpenden on Sunday July 15, the event offers something for runners of all ages and abilities.
From the extreme hill route where the adventurous will encounter challenges set by former Royal Marine, Nathan Wood, that include a grain sack carry and a tractor tyre flip to the standard route where runners will face hay bale hurdles and balance planks, this really is a run with a difference.
And the 1K Fun Runners don’t miss out as they will be taking on balance beams and the tunnel crawl.
Kate Grigg from Rennie Grove said: “We are encouraging children to come along in farm-themed fancy dress and we have a prize for the best dressed that has been kindly donated by Big Space, Harpenden. The highest fundraiser will also win a prize generously donated by the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead.
“We also want to say a big thank you to the Roberts family for allowing us to hold our new event on their farm.”
The Roberts family has been at Hammonds End Farm for three generations. Stuart Roberts now runs the farm said: “We are delighted to be hosting Farm Run and sharing our beautiful surroundings with others in our local community, but perhaps more importantly, to be able to say thank you to Rennie Grove and their wonderful nurses for taking such good care of my mum, Ginny, when she was so poorly last year.
“It meant so much to my dad, my brother and I and our families that she was able to be at home during her final days. It was particularly special for me and my wife because our youngest son, Freddie, was born just four days before she died and if she had been in hospital it would have been so much more difficult for her to see and hold him as she was able to at home. The Rennie Grove nurses were such a help to us all and we are so pleased to be able to express our gratitude in this way.”
The 1K Fun Run is open to adults and children of all ages while the Farm Run 5K is open to adults and children aged over 10 years old. Register at www.renniegrove.org/farmrun.
