Shops team delighted with van donation

The busy team behind Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s popular high street shops has a smart new van to help keep things on the road, thanks to a local charity that has once again proved to be a knight in shining armour.

New van for shops

The van will be a vital workhorse, transporting donated clothes and goods from our retail head office at Bainbridge House in Berkhamsted to all of our 27 high street shops across Bucks and Herts.

The distinctive van with its eye-catching Rennie Grove insignia has been donated by the West Herts Charity Trust, which has twice before generously donated vehicles to Rennie Grove: its first ever minibus for patients using day services at Grove House in St Albans came from the Croxley Green-based group of hauliers, and a second minibus kindly donated by the charity 15 years ago enables us to continue helping local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses access its services.

We provide round-the-clock nursing care and support for local people and their families tailored to their own needs and wishes. Our shops provide a vital source of funding towards this care, thanks to their popular appeal among shoppers looking for quality goods at hard-to-resist prices. Many regular shoppers call in weekly – with some even popping in each day!

The new van will take over from an existing vehicle that has reached the end of the road after a busy few years making regular runs between shops to pick up and drop off donations, keeping the shops fresh with new and seasonally appropriate stock.

Deborah Gould, Director of Retail and Trading at Rennie Grove said, “We are very grateful to the West Herts Charity Trust for their extremely generous donation and their continued support. The new van will make a huge difference to our retail team who will rely on it to move all kinds of items safely and reliably between our network of shops.”

Richard Minashi, Trustee of West Herts Charity Trust said: “Rennie Grove Hospice Care is a previous beneficiary of the Trust so when we heard that the charity was looking for funds for a new vehicle we were more than happy to help out. This is the third vehicle we have donated to Rennie Grove. We initially funded their first ever minibus that they used to transport patients to Grove House, their day service building in St Albans, which made it easier for more patients to access services there.

“This latest vehicle is the 87th that we have donated to the local community. It will enable Rennie Grove to transport clothing and other goods to its 27 shops across Herts and Bucks which will in turn generate funds for the charity. Rennie Grove is a fantastic local cause and we are thrilled to be able to assist with funding once again.”
