Can you make a lasting difference to local families?

Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s vision is that every local adult and child with a life-limiting illness should have a choice about how they are looked after, knowing that they can receive exceptional specialist palliative care.

That’s quite an ambition, but the charity has been delivering this care for decades thanks to the amazing support of local people.

One in three of Rennie Grove’s caring, specialist nurses is funded by gifts left to the charity in Wills.

Because of the kindness of people who have left legacy gifts in the past, adults and children living amongst us have access to the best end-of-life care in their own homes.

People like David. David has difficult memories of caring for his mother at the end of her life. “I was alone and felt powerless when I couldn’t help with her tremendous pain,” he said. Imagine David’s fear then, when his beloved wife Anne was diagnosed with the same terminal disease.

But then the Rennie Grove team stepped in to help – and everything changed. “The nurses came into our life, brought the outside into our home and offered us stability,” said David. “I never felt completely on my own. That reassurance and practical help was immeasurable.”

Since Anne died, David has been an active supporter of Rennie Grove and has chosen to leave the charity a gift in his Will. He said, “It means I give more patients the chance to be cared for at home, if that is what they wish, and it gives me a proud feeling knowing where my legacy is going.”

Sue Varvel, Director of Nursing at Rennie Grove said: “Leaving a gift in your Will means that our nurses can be here for families in the future. Your legacy will mean that you’ll be helping us to bring the very best care to local people of all ages at the time they need it most.”
