Baby Nellie may only be seven months old but Mum Deborah isn’t letting that stop her entering Rennie Grove’s flagship fundraising event – the Herts 10K.
Deborah will be joining thousands of others as she lines up on the start line at Rothamsted Research in Harpenden on Sunday 14 October.
Deborah said: “Although I’m a part-time personal trainer and I consider myself to be pretty fit, the Herts 10K will still be a challenge for me and I am looking forward to joining all the other runners on the day. I have been training for the last few months, building up my distance each time.
“I started working for the Education Team at Rennie Grove Hospice Care in July and I have been inspired by the amazing work of the charity and the incredible care that its nurses provide to adults and children with life-limiting illnesses. Being able to receive the support you need to be able to stay in your own home despite being very unwell must be a wonderful thing. I really hope that all the Herts 10K participants raise lots of money between us so that we help Rennie Grove to continue to provide their specialist care to local patients.
“As well as wanting to help raise funds I also want to prove that being a reasonably new Mum is not a barrier to fitness and taking on a challenge like the Herts 10K.“
Please come and join Deborah at the Herts 10K on Sunday 14 October. You can sign up at here. Online registration closes at midday on Thursday 11 October although you can also register on the day between 8.30 and 9.30am. We look forward to seeing you.
