Kick-start Christmas at the Jingle Bell Jog

There’s still time to get involved in Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s festive fundraiser, The Jingle Bell Jog and Fun Run that returns to St Peter’s Street in St Albans on Sunday December 2.

The Jingle Bell Jog is this sunday

Be one of the hundreds of local elves, reindeer, snowflakes and stars taking to the streets in a 5k or 1.5k fun run as participants don their Christmas jumper and festive attire for the big day.

We're pleased to welcome back Fiona Duncan for a second year. Fiona said: “I have a couple of very good reasons for supporting Rennie Grove. Dr Groves, the founder of Grove House was my childhood Doctor and I have the most lovely memories of her kind and gentle manner that always made me feel safe and better.

“Secondly, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer around 15 years ago and she would never have made it through the mental turmoil without the care and support of Rennie Grove’s team at Grove House. She met many new friends at art classes and enjoyed some of the holistic remedies she received. Rennie Grove has a place very close to heart as I’m happy to say Mum came out the other side and is very much enjoying her new role as a granny.

“For me Jingle Bell Jog has become a part of my running calendar; I did it last year and I love every minute of it!”

Rennie Grove is also happy to see Linda Whitaker who, along with daughter Amelia and friend Clare Bell with her daughter Olivia, is returning for another year. Linda said: “We loved taking part in the 1.5k jingle bell jog last year. It’s for a great cause and is also a fun and festive way to start the Christmas countdown. It’s also a great way to introduce a bit of exercise to the children and also a nice event to do with your child or children. All three of us are really looking forward to taking part again this year and our NCT group is joining us too.”

Kate Grigg, Head of Fundraising at Rennie Grove said: “The Jingle Bell Jog and fun run is a great way to kick-start the countdown to Christmas as the atmosphere is always amazing. We would love to see even more people joining us this year or coming into the City centre to cheer on the runners.”

Online registration is open here until 12.00 on Friday November 30 ,with on-the-day registration open between 9.30 and 10:30am for fun runners and between 9.30 and 11.00am for Jingle Bell Joggers. If you'd like to register on Sunday, please head to Waterend Barn in the centre of St Albans for the times listed above.
