Tickets have gone on sale for our sensational Sounds Around The Abbey season of musical evenings that are making a popular return to St Albans from Thursday July 25 to Saturday July 27.

Kerry Ellis, Sounds Around the Abbey

Hosted by stage performer and TV presenter Rosemarie Ford, the three consecutive evenings of music and song performed within the Abbey’s hallowed aisles are guaranteed to entrance and delight, while raising funds for local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

“It is such an honour to be back in this stunning venue for three nights, producing these shows for Rennie Grove and conducting The Jupiter Singers and the London Show Choir,” said director Pippa D Collins.

“I hope each night raises the roof and the music stays with our audiences for years to come.”

West End star Kerry Ellis – who has played lead roles in Les Miserables, Wicked, Oliver! and Cats – promises a star solo performance alongside Hugh Maynard, whose West End credits include the Lion King, We Will Rock You and Miss Saigon.

They will be joined by local voices from The Jupiter Singers who will delight audiences with pop, rock, gospel and Motown hits on the Thursday and Friday evenings, while Saturday evening will hit a musicals high with numbers from the West End being performed by the London Show Choir.

They will be accompanied each night by a live band headed by musical director Matt Pallant and children from the Pauline Quirke Academy of performing arts from Hemel Hempstead and from St Albans, who are “working tirelessly to bring their finest performance”, said principal David Jenkins.

Added Rosemarie Ford: “These shows are a MUST – a chance to hear these incredible choirs in this most beautiful setting,” she said. “I am thrilled to be returning.”

People are urged to book seats now to avoid disappointment. Tickets cost £20, £25 and £30 with concessions for under 16s, and all seats are promised a full view.
