Lynn has taken part in our Light up a Life campaign for the past 10 years after her husband sadly passed away due to stomach cancer
Lynn remembers: “When my husband, David, was diagnosed with cancer our world was turned upside down. He was only 49. Then Maureen, a hospice at home nurse came into our lives. She was there with us during the ups and down. Supporting and caring for the whole family. We knew we could call her at any time for reassurance. We never felt on our own and if we needed them a nurse would usually be with us within half an hour.
When David sadly died we were again supported and helped by Iain Rennie through this difficult time. We don’t know what we would have done without them. Family was really important to David and the hospice at home nurses made it possible for him to stay at home while he was ill and allowed us to have happy memories of him in the heart of the family until the very end.
Light up a life provides an opportunity for us to remember David in a unique way at a special time of the year and dedicating a light to him each year is very important to us.”
