Auricular Acupuncture

What is it?

We offer six-week courses of Auricular Acupuncture at Grove House. This is acupuncture given using fine needles placed in the outer ear to help boost your sense of well-being. Research has shown that it can also promote better sleep patterns and improve medication induced/disease related hot flushes in many people.

Who can come?

If you have been diagnosed with cancer or another life-limiting illness, live within Rennie Grove’s catchment area and feel you would benefit from Auricular Acupuncture, you are more than welcome at one of our courses. Carers are welcome too as they may benefit from the relaxation element of the course and an improved sense of well-being.

How do I get referred?

Any Health Care Professional involved in your care including your GP can refer you to Grove House. However if you are already known to Rennie Grove, you can be referred by a member of staff. Alternatively you can refer yourself by either phoning 01727 731013 or by calling into our Drop-in Session on a Tuesday morning between 9am and 1pm when our nurses will be able to advise you and assess you for a place on a course.

What will happen when I get there?

The acupuncture takes place in comfortable chairs in a group setting administered by a Registered Nurse trained in acupuncture. After the acupuncture, refreshments are provided and you will have an opportunity to chat with the other participants.

When and where the Auricular Acupuncture courses held?

The courses run on a weekly basis every few months throughout the year on Monday afternoons from 1.30-3.30pm at Grove House which is located next to St Albans City Hospital.

There is also a limited amount of free parking in a private barriered car park at the rear of Grove House which is allocated on a first come, first served basis.
