Grove House at Home

Our Companionship at Home and Carer Support at Home services are provided by trained volunteers who can normally visit you once a week at your home. These services are available between 8am and 8pm from Monday to Friday – we always aim to find a time to suit you.

Who can use this service?

To use this service, you need to be registered with a GP surgery within St Albans, Harpenden or Dacorum and have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.

You and your family/carer might find this service useful if you are:

  • having medical treatment and feeling too unwell to venture from home.
  • feeling lonely and distressed due to your illness.
  • being cared for by a family member/unpaid carer at home, who needs a break from time to time.

Would you like to:

  • give your family/carer a short break?
  • have some support and companionship?
  • get help to (for example) collect prescriptions, write letters, etc.?
  • share interests or do an activity with a volunteer?

If you have answered “Yes” to any of these questions, the Grove House Companionship at Home or Carer Support at Home Service can help you and your family or carer.

How do I get referred?

You can be referred for this service by your GP, your District Nurse, CNS, Macmillan nurse or your Rennie Grove nurse. Alternatively you can contact or visit us to refer yourself.
