What is it?
The HOPE Course is a six-week programme specifically designed to help patients affected by cancer, during or after treatment has finished. This course has been facilitated by Macmillan and is run throughout the year at three hospices in Hertfordshire.
The aim is to:
- Find new ways to regain your confidence and self-esteem
- Learn strategies to overcome emotional and practical difficulties
- Gain new self-management techniques around sleep, physical activity, stress, fatigue and life priorities
- Make plans, achieve goals and feel more positive
Who can come?
If you have ever been diagnosed with cancer, you are welcome at the course regardless of where you live. Any healthcare professional involved in your care including your GP can refer you to the course and, if you are already known to Rennie Grove Hospice Care, you can be referred by a member of staff.
Alternatively you can refer yourself by either phoning 01727 731013 or by calling into our Drop-in Session on a Tuesday morning between 9am and 1pm when our nurses will be able to advise you and assess you for this service.
What will happen when I get there?
You will have a chance to meet with others in a similar situation, in a welcoming and supportive environment.
When and where is the course held?
These courses are held regularly at the three hospices throughout the year. To find out the date of the next course nearest to you, please call 01727 731013.

The HOPE course is provided at no cost to participants. If you would like to make a donation to support our work, please go to renniegrove.org/donate.
