Carly & John's story

"When a loved one is dying and you feel useless, confused and afraid, it is so comforting to have support from people who know just how to help, what to do and what to say.”

Carly Stephens (shown with her partner Rachel Leigh) recalls how we helped her father figure, John, as well as her Mum.

“John had been my father figure for the last 24 years - so losing him so quickly to cancer was heart-breaking. Rennie Grove helped my mum and John by giving lots of support and information at such a difficult time. They were going to organise aids to make things easier for John, such as a bed downstairs and a seat for the bath.

“Unfortunately John deteriorated quickly and was admitted to hospital and passed away within two weeks of finding out he had cancer. Rennie Grove then supported my Mum and the rest of the family, counselling her to help her cope with the grieving process. When a loved one is dying and you feel useless, confused and afraid, it is so comforting to have support from people who know just how to help, what to do and what to say.”
